On May 5, the RA NA Deputy Speaker, the Co-Chair of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the RA National Assembly and Parliament of Georgia Hermine Naghdalyan met with the Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Finance of the Georgian Parliament Tamaz Mechiauri, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee Nodar Ebanoidze, the member of the Committee Paata Baratashvili and the Representative of the German Federal Enterprise for International Cooperation (GIZ) Inga Sinjikashvili, who were in Armenia to take part in the works of the Second Regional Meeting of the RA NA Committees on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs and the Committee on Budget and Finance of the Georgian Parliament, the organizer of which was the GIZ.

Welcoming the Georgian colleagues’ visit to Armenia the NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan highly assessed the cooperation between the two friendly countries, especially emphasized the format of the inter-parliamentary cooperation. The NA Deputy Speaker touched upon the visit of the Delegation led by the NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan to Georgia in 2014 and highlighted the agreements and the wide format of the debated issues, and one of them, in the NA Deputy Speaker’s word, is this discussion. Talking about the activities of the RA NA Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs Hermine Naghdalyan informed her Georgian colleagues that the Committee initiated and worked out numerous important bills, one of which relates to the programme budgeting, and today it is a rather succeeded process in Armenia. Mrs Naghdalyan has informed the participants that in the RA NA the newly-created Budgetary Office effectively functions, and it is expected that in the coming years Armenia will exclusively have programmed budgets. The NA Deputy Speaker Hermine Naghdalyan wished the participants of the Meeting effective work.

Thanking for the warm reception the Chairman of the Committee on Budget and Finance of the Parliament of the Republic of Georgia Tamaz Mechiauri attached importance to the holding of the joint discussions and expansion of cooperation of the Committees in terms of exchange of experience. Tamaz Mechiauri has informed that now in Georgia function Audit Committees but there is a goal to have a separate body dealing with audit in future.
